Heads or Tails.. We Pick Tails

Hey World, it’s Stephanie. Long time amateur rider, first time blog post writer.

It’s Thursday (I had to check), and I’m here to tell you about the tail bag that saved my sanity. I like my 3 year old Scarlett to live outside as much as possible, and her blessed luscious tail does not mix well with the wet and muddy weather we’ve been having in the Carolinas.

Send help…

Then Susan introduced me to the Snuggy Hoods Waterproof Tail Bag, and based on the picture above, you know it has been put to the test!

Before using the tail bag, I gave Scarlett’s tail a good bath. Make sure the tail is soap free and dries completely, then braid the tail, starting just below the tailbone. Though a human hair tie is recommended, it did not hold the first time I tried it which makes the tail bag come off, therefore I stick to the small braiding rubber bands. Place the tail into the tail bag, and thread the Velcro strap through the center of the braid, just below the tailbone. Then pull the strings tight, and you’re good to go!

Don’t mind her winter coat… she’s from Iowa!

This bag has been rained on and covered in mud for 3 months and has yet to become wet on the inside, successfully protecting Scarlett’s tail. SMALL DISCLAIMER: in the beginning, the Velcro strap ripped clean away from the bag. We aren’t sure how other than it happening in the field. However, Susan stitched it back on and we’ve been smooth sailing ever since!

This is Scarlett’s tail, 4 days after the original wash, with training rides each day and living outside 24/7. No joke, no other product has been added since. Before a ride I remove the tail bag, give it a quick brush and am on my way. It’s truly incredible!

I ordered directly from Snoogy Hood’s website, size Large, and 10/10 recommend. I will be using this through bad weather, trailering to shows, and I’m sure for many other reasons! Now don’t worry, Susan will resume writing blog posts, and tell you all about how we tame this gorgeous tail.
