Back in the Show Ring
Hi World! It’s Annie today. We’ve been absent for a minute, because after what feels like a decade, I have finally started horse showing again! We started off at the Harmon Classic’s horse show located at Tryon International Equestrian Center. This was the first horse show since Covid-19, and while it was a weird transition back into horse showing, it was really comforting seeing how much effort the facility and workers put into keeping it a safe and clean environment for everyone. On top of that, it was the best experience being able to show in this facility! The rings, accommodations, and backdrop were absolutely beautiful, and Wimpy and I saw all of our hard work during our down time really pay off in the show ring.
Our second show back was at Harmon Classics Annual Derby Mania, where Wimpy and I came away victorious. We were truly riding as a team and ended up being champion in the Children’s Hunter on Sunday, which was a great way to end the weekend.
Overall, walking back into the show ring was a success. Wimpy was close to a perfect pony and put up with my many mistakes! It seems that the more time in the ring we get, the smoother things go.
Wimpy has become almost a new horse since first getting him in October. He has become responsive and adjustable, and I grow to love his quirks more and more as time goes on. I am so thankful to my trainer Valentina and barn family for supporting me through highs and lows, and cannot wait to see what the future holds for us!
